Students chose and researched a famous work of art then emulated specific details and styles in their own appropriation painting using acrylic paint while also completing artist statements and sharing their work with their peers discussing the similarities and differences of each piece.

Students were tasked with utilizing 100 coffee stirrers to create abstract geometric sculptures that feature either triangles, rectangles, or pentagons stacked and repeated in the round.

Teacher example

Students were tasked with compiling photographs of the year’s worth of projects from their art class into one Google Sites. My example sites hosts my own examples from classes, as well as student examples for each project and links to student websites.

Teacher example of plaster unit within sculpture class that has students build substructures using cardboard and finalize their forms with plaster cloth. Students explore displaying relief works by creating whimsical frames to support their characters.

Students are exploring scale and painting by recreating iconic fast food items using paper mache.

Teacher example of sculpture unit exploring subtractive sculpture using floral foam and transformation by shifting perspective during the modeling process. Final product is a group installation of assembled forms.

Art 1 lesson exploring layers and composition utilizing watercolor and acrylic paint and stencils. Mine emulates the collage effect the artist we studied used to create a geometric animal head where I peeled acrylic paint from a palette and cut it to fill in the shapes of the head.
