Art Camp 2015 (VA-MOCA)
This is a showcase of student work during the summer of 2015 in Virginia Beach at the Museum of Contemporary Art. I worked with children ages 6 - 8 as well as teens ages 12 - 16 over the course of a week per camp.

Ceramic Time Travelers
I instructed Ceramic Time Travelers for ages 6-11 during Summer Art Camp at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. The first photograph shows students working during the week long class. The following photographs depict their works of art on display for their Art Show at the end of Summer Art Camp. My proposal for the class is as follows: Children ages 6 to 11 will learn how to hand build and sculpt clay. Over the course of a week students travel back in time to the Neolithic era where they will create and decorate pottery to emulate the past. Children learn ceramic methods such as coiling, scoring and slipping, as well as the history behind these methods and how they are continuously used today. By the end of the week students will have a contemporary piece reminiscent of the past, answering the question: What will archaeologists find thousands of years from now?

Beginner's Pottery
I instructed a Beginner’s Pottery class for teens ages 12-16 during Summer Art Camp at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. The photographs show the teens working on the potter's wheel at various stages in the throwing process, as well as their finished pieces, which were displayed in an Art Show at the end of Summer Art Camp. My proposal for the week long class is as follows: Teens ages 12 to 16 will learn how to throw pottery on the potter’s wheel. Over the course of the week students practice making wheel thrown ceramic art. Children learn ceramic methods such as wedging and centering clay to create bowls, mugs, and plates. As the week progresses they will trim and decorate their pieces, experimenting with form and function.
