A Place to Reflect
Both language and imagery are vaguely represented with this piece. Mirrored panes of glass cut into diamond shapes then soldered together distort the viewer's reflection, asking what is really being seen.

A Place to Reflect Installed
Focused on its own wall, measuring roughly 4' x 4', with a single light angled to produce a jagged reflection on the floor below, A Place to Reflect asks viewers to ponder both its language and imagery. A bench situated at the edge of the reflection forces a distance suggestive of fragility.

The Treachery of Technology Installation
The painting The Treachery of Technology 3 is projected onto a wall. The projection is a live feed of the painting from a modern video camera situated on the other side of the wall. Thus, the painting and its larger, not quite crisp image share a wall. The image the viewer is presented with becomes a projection of what it represents.

Tea Rain
Action painting where hot water was poured over a hanging image of an artificial shape not found in nature which was formed with shredded tea leaves. This resulted in a rain-like stain on the canvas board below.

Example - Collage self-portrait
Drawing students practiced drawing themselves from observation, learning all about proportion and scale. Rather than shade or color in with traditional media, students instead practiced matching color and values to replicate form and textures using magazines. Their backgrounds were their choice, and represent themselves in some way. My example uses text for my love of reading.
